Our shining star is our hills: The hills of the ‘Teramane’, where the deep-rooted origins of our family lie.

YEARS OF HISTORY

The history of ‘San Lorenzo’ is written in this unique corner of Abruzzo, ongoing for five generations.
The wines of ‘San Lorenzo’ are the expression of a relationship that unites us with the hills of the ‘Teramane’, the result of an experience passed down for generations and with due respect towards our native vines.

In each of our bottles, lies an expression of our commitment that we dedicate to our wines while narrating, as well as preserving the heritage of these areas. -

- The family organisation of the company is the key of our success because it allows us to pay particular attention to the product, due to the detailed control of the entire production supply-chain, starting from the cultivation, to the enological aspects up to the stage of sale.

It all started on 10 August, the night of ‘San Lorenzo’…

Francesco D’Amico purchases the first 2 hectares (5 acres) of land in the small medieval Borgo of ‘Castilenti’ to celebrate the birth of his first child.

On 10 August, “The Night of the Shooting Stars of San Lorenzo”, the dream of a man becomes reality, Giuseppe D’Amico spends all his fortune in purchasing 80 hectares (198 acres) from Duke Caracciolo.

Adina D’Amico (Daughter of Giuseppe) and Guido Barbone (Son-in-law of Giuseppe) transform the family agricultural business from a multi-sectorial business to a wine company.

Gianfranco Barbone and Giuseppina Barbone (Children of Adina and Guido) enlarge the family property from 80 hectares (197 acres) to 150 hectares (370 acres), resulting in a substantial increase, further supported by the introduction of new and innovative wine producing equipment.

Due to the acknowledgement by the Ministry of Agriculture of the first DOCG of Abruzzo of the “Montepulciano Colline Teramane”, Gianluca and Fabrizio Galasso (children of Giuseppina and Enzo), manage the company always pointing towards high quality standards.

Tests relating to the environment are carried out and the first actual measures towards a substantial reduction of phytosanitary products are applied.

‘San Lorenzo’ is one of the first cellars in Italy to adhere to the National Quality System of Integrated Production (SQNPI), Certified Protocol acknowledged by the European Union.

‘San Lorenzo’ achieves its first measurable objectives to optimize production with a low-impact on the environment, according to the indicators of sustainable wine making.
